# Does SugarPixel need WiFi?

Yes. SugarPixel+, SugarPixel Mini and SugarPixel Classic all download readings over the internet from your CGM's cloud service, so they need a WiFi connection. They don't read the CGM sensor directly.

**No WiFi available?** Any SugarPixel can connect through a phone's mobile hotspot, which uses that phone's mobile data:

**Coming to SugarPixel+: Handoff Mode.** Handoff Mode will let SugarPixel+ download readings without WiFi using the mobile data of a paired phone. A public preview is coming later this year.
