# Prefs

Open your SugarPixel's settings and tap **Prefs**. The setup wizard covers the same settings in its **Name** and **Units & time** steps.

## Name

Give SugarPixel Mini/Classic a name you'll recognize, like the room it's in — Kitchen, Bedroom or Joseph work well. You can also rename it from the home screen with **⚙ → Rename** next to its name.

* 4–12 letters or numbers — no spaces or special characters
* The model part of the name (**SugarPixelMini-** or **SugarPixel-**) stays in front and can't be changed. Default names look like **SugarPixelMini-04C7** or **SugarPixel-04C7**.
* Renaming needs SugarPixel Mini/Classic to be **Nearby**, because the name is saved on it.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Phones remember Bluetooth names, so your phone's Bluetooth list may keep showing the old name for a while. Restart your phone if needed.

## Glucose Units

Choose **mg/dL** or **mmol/L**. Changing units resets the alert and color range levels to the defaults for the new unit, so check [Alerts](https://support.customtypeone.com/sugarpixel-mini-classic/alerts.md) and [Display](https://support.customtypeone.com/sugarpixel-mini-classic/display-options) afterwards.

## Time Zone

Tap **Time zone** and choose yours (type in **Search** to find it). Clock displays, [Quiet Hours](https://support.customtypeone.com/sugarpixel-mini-classic/quiet-hours.md), night [Brightness](https://support.customtypeone.com/sugarpixel-mini-classic/brightness.md) and alerts all depend on it. If alerts happen at unexpected times, check this first.

## 24‑Hour Time

Turn on **24‑hour time** to show the time in 24-hour format on displays that show a clock.
