# Wireless Alert Adapter Not Working

> The adapter light is off or it isn't responding to alerts

<Info>
  **Start here:** make sure the SugarPixel app is up to date in the App Store or Play Store, and that your SugarPixel Mini/Classic has the latest firmware installed. See [Firmware Update](/sugarpixel-mini-classic/firmware-update).
</Info>

The light on the Wireless Alert Adapter shows its status:

* **Blue** — connected to SugarPixel Mini
* **Green** — powered on but not connected
* **Orange** — Guardian Mode is active

<Steps>
  <Step title="Check how it's plugged in">
    The bed shaker plugs into the USB-A port on the adapter marked **Alert Device**, and the supplied power cable and wall plug go into the USB-C side marked **Power**. A bed shaker plugged straight into a wall plug vibrates nonstop — it must go through the adapter.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Test the bed shaker">
    Plug the bed shaker directly into the wall plug for a moment. If it vibrates, the bed shaker works. Then plug it back into the adapter.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm pairing">
    In the app, open **Alert Settings** and scroll to **Wireless Alert Adapter** to confirm the adapter is paired. SugarPixel Mini pairs with one adapter at a time.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Reset and re-pair">
    If it isn't listed or still doesn't respond, tap **Unpair**, unplug the adapter for 2 minutes, plug it back in, and pair it again using the 6-digit PIN on the bottom of the adapter (not the bed shaker).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Run a test alert">
    Use the **Test Alert** button to confirm the adapter is working.
  </Step>
</Steps>
