# SugarPixel Mini/Classic Not Shown in the App

> Device isn't appearing in the app — common causes and how to fix each one

<Info>
  **Start here:** make sure the SugarPixel app is up to date in the App Store or Play Store, and that your SugarPixel Mini/Classic has the latest firmware installed. See [Firmware Update](/sugarpixel-mini-classic/firmware-update).
</Info>

### Previously connected, but no longer shows

Most commonly, **Disconnect** wasn't tapped after the last session. The app isn't designed to stay connected.

1. Unplug SugarPixel Mini/Classic
2. Plug it back in to reboot
3. Open the app and reconnect

Going forward, always tap **Disconnect** when you finish editing settings.

### Purchased before September 2022

App-compatible firmware was released in September 2022. If your SugarPixel Classic hasn't been updated since then, update it first.

To check: restart SugarPixel Classic. If the display shows **"CONFIG"** while booting, it's running outdated software. Follow the [SD card update instructions](/sugarpixel-mini-classic/firmware-update).

### Display shows "Run Hardware Test"

A step was skipped during initial setup. Follow all [setup instructions](/sugarpixel-mini-classic/setup) to resolve.

### App shows "Stopped"

Bluetooth is off on your phone, the app is missing permissions, or both. Open **Settings → Bluetooth** and confirm it's on, then check that all permissions for the SugarPixel app are allowed.
