# Nightscout

> Connect directly to your Nightscout site URL

SugarPixel+ can connect directly to a Nightscout site to download glucose data.

  <Step title="Confirm your site is working">
    Open your Nightscout site in a web browser, confirm readings are visible, and copy your Nightscout URL.

  <Step title="Check whether your site requires a token">
    Open your Nightscout site in a private/incognito browser. If you're prompted for an API Secret, your site is restricted and you'll need a read-only token.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create a read-only token (if required)">
    Open your Nightscout site and go to **Admin Tools**. Confirm a role named **readable** exists with permission `*:*:read` — create it if it doesn't. Add a new Subject: Name = **SugarPixel**, Roles = **readable**. Copy the generated access token.

  <Step title="Enter details in SugarPixel+">
    Type your URL (and token if required) exactly as shown — SugarPixel+ doesn't support pasting — then tap **Test Connection**.

      If Nightscout is receiving reliable, real-time pump data — such as from a DIY pump app — SugarPixel+ can display IOB and COB on the main screen. Toggle this under **≡ → Display → User Themes**.
