Now that your users are set up, let’s configure your alerts.
If you ordered the Wireless Alert Adapter with Bed Shaker, you will set it up in Step 1 below.
Global Alert Settings
Global Alert Settings
Global alert settings control how SugarPixel+ delivers alerts — sound, visual, vibration, and light. These settings apply across all users. To configure, go to ≡ → Global Alert Settings.
To pair a Wireless Alert Adapter:
Audio
Choose from 4 alert tones — each uses a different tonal range with randomized sounds to help prevent habituation. Use the volume slider (or + / −) to set alert volume.Ascending Alerts
When enabled, audio gradually increases in intensity over 5 minutes. A paired Wireless Alert Adapter activates immediately when the alert fires.Wireless Alert Adapter / Bed Shaker
The Wireless Alert Adapter is a Bluetooth accessory that delivers physical alerts — such as bed shaking — when an alert fires.Unboxing and plugging in the adapter is covered in Setup My Wireless Alert Adapter.Place your SugarPixel+ and Wireless Alert Adapter in their intended locations before pairing to ensure sufficient Bluetooth signal.
- Tap Manage Paired Adapters
- Select Pair New Adapter
- SugarPixel+ scans for nearby adapters and displays each one with a signal strength indicator and a Pair button. Confirm the signal is sufficient for your intended location, then tap Pair.
- Enter the 6-digit PIN printed on the bottom of the Wireless Alert Adapter. SugarPixel+ pairs automatically.
Use the Test Alert button at the bottom of the menu to confirm your adapter is working.
Additional Wireless Alert Adapter Information
You can pair multiple Wireless Alert Adapters to one SugarPixel+. Each Wireless Alert Adapter can only be paired to one SugarPixel+ at a time. The Wireless Alert Adapter icon in the dock status bar reflects connection status. The light on the Wireless Alert Adapter glows blue when connected, green when powered on but not connected, green when an alert is active, and orange when Guardian Mode is active. To reset the Wireless Alert Adapter for use with another SugarPixel+ or SugarPixel Mini, tap the Unpair button.Guardian Mode — When enabled, if the Wireless Alert Adapter loses its connection to SugarPixel+ for more than 30 minutes, the bed shaker will vibrate on its own every 30 minutes for up to 3 hours. This is designed to alert you if the connection is lost unexpectedly.Visual Alerts
When enabled, the screen flashes when an alert fires. In multi-user mode, only the user whose alert is active will flash — other users’ displays remain normal.Spoken Alerts
Spoken Glucose
When enabled, alert audio includes pauses to speak the glucose value and trend every 10 seconds. In multi-user mode, it also announces the user’s name.Custom Speech Requires Version 2.10+
Speaks your custom-entered text during alerts for Low, High, and No Data alerts.Nightlight
A nightlight on the back of SugarPixel+ that turns on automatically during alerts, so you can more easily see to treat for a low or high. Set the duration to control how long it stays on after the alert is snoozed. When enabled, a notification will appear on screen so you can turn it off earlier if needed.Test Alert
Tap Test Alert at the bottom of this menu to trigger all enabled outputs — audio, visual, Wireless Alert Adapter, and Nightlight.Test alerts weekly and any time you make changes to your alert setup.
System Alerts
System Alerts
System Alerts fire automatically based on device and network conditions — no threshold configuration needed. They follow all other Global Alert Settings and Quiet Hours.
Power Loss Alert
SugarPixel+ has an internal battery that keeps it running during a power outage. When the battery runs low and the device is about to shut off, this alert fires automatically to notify you — giving you a chance to move SugarPixel+ to a powered location before it goes offline.Captive Portal Alert
There are no settings for this alert — it is based entirely on whether you are connected to a captive portal network. Portal sessions can expire at any time, cutting off readings. When a session expires, SugarPixel+ checks whether any alerts would have fired if a reading had come through. If so, it automatically fires a Captive Portal alert — this follows your global alert settings and quiet hours. An on-screen notification will also appear when the session needs to be renewed.Quiet Hours
Schedule times when all alerts are silenced
Quiet Hours
Schedule times when all alerts are silenced
Define times when SugarPixel+ will not alert. Tap any hour block to toggle it — red = alerts off, green = alerts on. Each block covers one full hour (e.g. block “10” covers 10:00–10:59). Drag left or right to see all 24 hours.Use Clear Schedule to reset all quiet hours.
Copy / Paste Days — Tap Sun to copy Sunday’s schedule to Saturday, or Mon to copy Monday’s schedule to all weekdays. Adjust individual days after.
Quiet Hours depend on your Time Zone, configured in ≡ → General Settings → Preferences. If alerts fire at unexpected times, check that your time zone is correct.
Hide BG During Quiet Hours
When enabled, the display switches to a clock-only view during Quiet Hours, hiding glucose values from the screen. Useful in public spaces such as a school or clinic where you don’t want BG data visible to others during off hours. When you’re done, tap Continue in the bottom right of this help window.
