SugarPixel can support people who are blind or have low vision, people who are deaf or hard of hearing, and people with color vision differences. Every alert method is optional, so you can use the combination that works best.

Blind or low vision

  • Large display — SugarPixel+ has an 8.68” touchscreen. SugarPixel Mini’s Big BG display shows a large glucose number, with adjustable day and night brightness.
  • Spoken glucose on demand — On SugarPixel+, turn on Spoken Glucose under ≡ → General Settings → Accessibility, then press the physical snooze button anytime to hear the current glucose value and trend.
  • Spoken alerts — SugarPixel+ can speak the glucose value and trend during alerts, and can speak your own custom text for Low, High and No Data alerts. See Global Alert Settings.
  • Color Correction — SugarPixel+ can adjust its colors for color vision differences, under ≡ → General Settings → Accessibility.

Deaf or hard of hearing

  • Vibration — SugarPixel+ and SugarPixel Mini work with the Wireless Alert Adapter and a bed shaker. The original SugarPixel Classic, if you have one, came with its own vibration puck. See Accessory compatibility.
  • Visual alerts — The screen flashes when an alert fires.
  • Nightlight — SugarPixel+ has a light on the back that turns on automatically during alerts.
