1Global Alert Settings
Sound, visual, vibration, and light — applies to all users — go to ≡ → Global Alert Settings
Global alert settings control how SugarPixel+ delivers alerts — sound, visual, vibration, and light. These settings apply across all users.
To configure, go to ≡ → Global Alert Settings.
Ascending Alerts
Audio gradually increases over 5 minutes
When enabled, audio gradually increases in intensity over 5 minutes. A paired Alert Adapter activates immediately when the alert fires.
Audio
Alert tone and volume
Choose from 4 alert tones — each uses a different tonal range with randomized sounds to help prevent habituation. Use the volume slider (or + / −) to set alert volume.
Alert Adapter / Bed Shaker
Bluetooth accessory for physical alerts such as bed shaking
The Alert Adapter is a Bluetooth accessory that delivers physical alerts — such as bed shaking — when an alert fires.
Place your SugarPixel+ and Alert Adapter in their intended locations before pairing to ensure sufficient Bluetooth signal.
To pair an Alert Adapter:
- Tap Manage Paired Adapters
- Select Pair New Adapter
- SugarPixel+ scans for nearby adapters and displays each one with a signal strength indicator and a Pair button. Confirm the signal is sufficient for your intended location, then tap Pair.
- Enter the 6-digit PIN printed on the bottom of the Alert Adapter. SugarPixel+ pairs automatically.
Confirm your adapter is listed as SugarPixelAlert-XXXX. If it shows as Unknown Device, tap Unpair and try again.
Use the Test Alert button at the bottom of the menu to confirm your adapter is working.
Additional Alert Adapter Information
Multiple adapters, status light, and resetting
You can pair multiple Alert Adapters to one SugarPixel+. Each Alert Adapter can only be paired to one SugarPixel+ at a time.
The Alert Adapter icon in the dock status bar reflects connection status. The light on the Alert Adapter glows blue when connected and green when powered on but not connected.
To reset the Alert Adapter for use with another SugarPixel+ or SugarPixel Mini, tap the Unpair button.
Visual Alerts
Screen flashes when an alert fires
When enabled, the screen flashes when an alert fires. In multi-user mode, only the user whose alert is active will flash — other users' displays remain normal.
Spoken Glucose
Available after first software update — announces glucose value and trend when an alert fires
When enabled, alert audio includes pauses to speak the glucose value and trend every 10 seconds. In multi-user mode, it also announces the user's name.
Nightlight
Back-of-device light that activates during alerts
A nightlight on the back of SugarPixel+ that turns on automatically during alerts, so you can more easily see to treat for a low or high. Set the duration to control how long it stays on after the alert is snoozed. When enabled, a notification will appear on screen so you can turn it off earlier if needed.
Test Alert
Verify all alert outputs are working
Tap Test Alert at the bottom of this menu to trigger all enabled outputs — audio, visual, Alert Adapter, and Nightlight.
Test alerts weekly and any time you make changes to your alert setup.
2System Alerts
Automatic alerts for power loss and network issues
System Alerts fire automatically based on device and network conditions — no threshold configuration needed. They follow all other Global Alert Settings and Quiet Hours.
Power Loss Alert
Available after first software update — notifies you before the internal battery shuts off
SugarPixel+ has an internal battery that keeps it running during a power outage. When the battery runs low and the device is about to shut off, this alert fires automatically to notify you — giving you a chance to move SugarPixel+ to a powered location before it goes offline.
Captive Portal Alert
Fires automatically when a captive portal session expires and cuts off readings
There are no settings for this alert — it is based entirely on whether you are connected to a captive portal network. Portal sessions can expire at any time, cutting off readings. When a session expires, SugarPixel+ checks whether any alerts would have fired if a reading had come through. If so, it automatically fires a Captive Portal alert — this follows your global alert settings and quiet hours. An on-screen notification will also appear when the session needs to be renewed.
3Quiet Hours
Schedule times when all alerts are silenced — go to ≡ → Global Alert Settings → Quiet Hours
Quiet Hours
Schedule times when all alerts are silenced
Define times when SugarPixel+ will not alert. Tap any hour block to toggle it — red = alerts off, green = alerts on. Each block covers one full hour (e.g. block "10" covers 10:00–10:59). Drag left or right to see all 24 hours.
Copy / Paste Days — Tap Sun to copy Sunday's schedule to Saturday, or Mon to copy Monday's schedule to all weekdays. Adjust individual days after.
Use Clear Schedule to reset all quiet hours.
Quiet Hours depend on your Time Zone, configured in System Settings. If alerts fire at unexpected times, check that your time zone is correct.
Hide BG During Quiet Hours
Hides glucose values on screen during scheduled quiet times
When enabled, the display switches to a clock-only view during Quiet Hours, hiding glucose values from the screen. Useful in public spaces such as a school or clinic where you don't want BG data visible to others during off hours.
