Both the SugarPixel app and device firmware are updated regularly with new features and fixes.
Install firmware updates when the app offers them, and keep the app up to date in the App Store or Play Store. The latest version for each model is listed in the Release Notes.
When you open a SugarPixel that has an update waiting, the app asks Firmware update available (at most once a day). Tap Update now, or Later to do it from System.
1

Open System

Open your SugarPixel’s settings. When an update is available, the System row shows Update ready. Tap System, then Firmware update.
2

Install the update

Tap the release notes to read what’s new, then tap Install [version].
  • Classic SugarPixel Classic must be connected to WiFi. Tap Confirm.
  • Mini Choose Web Install (Recommended). Use Bluetooth Install only if a web install didn’t work before, or SugarPixel Mini isn’t on WiFi (see below).
SugarPixel Mini/Classic displays “UPDATE” while the update runs. Don’t unplug it unless the update takes longer than 10 minutes. The app shows Software Update — tap Return Home once readings are back.
3

Confirm the update

Once SugarPixel Mini/Classic shows readings again, open its settings and tap System. Firmware should show the new version. Then check your alert, time and Quiet Hours settings and use Test alert under Alert Types. If the update didn’t install, the app tells you the next time you open that SugarPixel (Update Not Installed) and offers to try again.
If the update stalls — If “UPDATE” shows for more than 10 minutes: reboot your phone, unplug and replug SugarPixel Mini/Classic, temporarily turn off WiFi on your phone, then try again.

Bluetooth Update Mini

SugarPixel Mini can also be updated over Bluetooth from the app. Only use the Bluetooth updater if:
  • the WiFi update failed, or
  • you need to update while SugarPixel Mini isn’t connected to WiFi.
When SugarPixel Mini isn’t on WiFi, or a previous web install didn’t complete, the app sends the update over Bluetooth automatically. Otherwise, choose Bluetooth Install after tapping Install. Keep your phone within a few feet of SugarPixel Mini, with the app open, until the transfer finishes. SugarPixel Mini then restarts to install it — don’t unplug it until it shows readings again.
